the renovation process

it can feel overwhelming, but we got you.

 

01 — discuss

let us know what’s on your mind. you have questions, and we have the answers that you’re searching for. this is a great opportunity to guide you into a cabinet brand that can achieve your desired aesthetic and functionality.

02 — estimate

before we even start working on a design, we’ll provide an estimate based on our conversation, to see if it aligns with your budget; and we’ll also let you know where the estimate falls in the spectrum of pricing from stock to custom. knowing how much more or less cabinets for the same space can cost, can help plan and prioritize within your overall budget.

03 — select

in addition to making specific style and color, or functionality choices, it’s important to know what appliances that you’ll be using, and anything else that has precise specifications that might affect the design.

04 — measure

if you’d like to measure yourself, we can send you a quick sketch based on photos to help illustrate what information is most helpful to us; or within the greater chicago area, we can measure for you.

05 — design

this is when we’ll put it all together to create a preliminary design for you, and generate some renderings to help you visualize what the completed project might look like. this step can often take a week or so.

06 — revise

when you see it, there might be some elements of the design that aren’t quite as you imagined they would be, or changes to be made after thinking it through, and revisions are expected.

07 — purchase

when the selections and design are complete, we’re ready to order when you are. all cabinet makers require payment in full to place the order, and you’ll receive your plans as part of final sign-off.

08 — fabrication

current lead times are typically 2-3 weeks for stock rta cabinets to ship to your home, 6-8 weeks for semi-custom cabinets depending on the brand, and 12+ weeks for fully custom cabinets.

we won’t have any sort of tracking or updates to provide beyond the initial order acknowledgment, but you will either receive an exact delivery date typically a couple of weeks in advance, or have the opportunity to schedule an exact delivery date once your cabinets arrive to a local delivery agent, depending on the brand.

09 — demolition

if you choose to plan demolition and site-prep in advance of your cabinets arriving, please do so knowing that there’s always the chance for delays, or to discover that part of your order was damaged or lost in transit, and needs to be reordered.

while this is expedited, we recommend scheduling demolition to begin once everything has arrived complete and whole, including any reorders. if possible, have the respective installer verify for you that everything they need is ready.

10 — installation

you’ll receive a floor plan and wall elevations of your design to share with your installer for planning any necessary mechanical, electrical, or plumbing adjustments to make a new layout work; as well as any notes that we can think to share in advance that might help facilitate a smooth installation.

we’ll always be able to provide more information during the process if needed, or help troubleshoot unexpected issues.
